Hi! I have experienced a very similar problem under V3R6 and ILE C, but in the same job (StrDbg ... before starting, no StrSrvJob). I could not reproduce the problem, so there was no chance for an AnzPrb. Looks like a intermitting problem in the debugger which is lurking around a long time already. If you CAN reproduce the problem consistenly you should do an AnzPrb and describe it. Maybe you are the first in the world who can trap the bug. That's the point. Killing it is then up to the guys in Rochester or Toronto... If its intermittent at your site you can only try to get the latest PTF level for the debugger and hope... It is unbelievable to me that you do not have an IBMer at hand who is able to handle a reproducible problem. Or is the support here in GoodOldEurope better than in the US? I am debugging an ILE RPG pgm running in a service job under a STRSRVJOB command from an interactive session. I am stepping through the program using F10. Occasionally, when I position my cursor on a variable and strike F11 to display the variable, my keyboard locks up and I must cancel my interactive job from another session (option 2 on the sys req is not allowed). Just before the last crash and burn, I positioned my cursor on the 'e' of 'CycleYear' and got a message saying something like "Identifier e not defined". The EVAL command works and sometimes F11 works. I think F11 works on an operation that does not have an extended factor 2 (for example, in the result field). My program is running in a named activation group. I will probably have to report this to IBM and have to explain it five times to someone who doesn't know what I'm talking about. Eventually, someone else will suggest that I load a PTF that is unrelated to this problem but which might fix it anyway and which will have 26 pre and co-requisite PTF's, some of which will be application delayed until the next unattended IPL (sigh). +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
