Jerry, The AS/400 basically forces all 2-digit year date values into the range of 1940 to 2039; and the enforcement of this range is pervasive. In the specific case of ILE RPG, this is mentioned in the RPG Reference manual under Moving Date-Time data; for DB2/400, the SQL Reference covers this under 2.6.6.1 Date; for CL commands, the extended help text for CVTDAT; for command definitions, the help for TYPE(*DATE) of PARM; and I'm sure many other places.
