"What else do you know about PowerTools... Do you mean QUSRTOOL library? Please advise." No, not QUSRTOOL - although I think Jim Sloan may have done a bit of Y2K stuff there. PowerTools is from Pence and Hawkins and they were one of the first impact analysis tool vendors to support building an interface to our BYPASS2000 product. BYPASS is a very sophisticated "code fixer" (i.e. it does all of the date identification and code changes for you) but it does require you to feed it information about the location of dates on the database. PowerTools, along with ManDate and IBM's SEARCH2000 all have the ability to build an interfae file for BYPASS based on their findings from analysing the data in the files. The main difference between SEARCH and the other two is that SEARCH kind of assumes that you are going to be going on to use BYPASS. The other tools provide greater depth of information if you're intending to do the code changes "by hand", but can interface to BYPASS if that proves to be a major task (which it often does). For more information on BYPASS, SEARCH, and the other tools mentioned try the BYPASS home page at www.software.ibm.com/ad/as400/bypass - you'll find links to the vendor software, IBM's Y2K pages, etc. all there.
