If you want to update only DB90999 records, then
update <<library/filename>> set substr(serial, 1,2) = 'AB' where serial =
'DB90999'

If you want to update all records whose SERIAL starts with 'DB' then
update <<librray/filename>> set substr(serial, 1, 2)='AB' where serial = 'DB%'

I didnot try this. But it may help you. Start in this direction. All the best.
