The "nice" RPG IV equivalent for this DS would be this:

If you are using V4R2, you can use the Variable length field directly like so:

      D PayData         S            251    Varying


Of course this, as with the previous examples assumes that the first two bytes
contain the length in binary.  Don't recall the original post stating that.  If
the field is a "C" type null terminated field then the treatment changes.
