To close that hole go to the IBM site for redbooks and look at 'Cool title
about the AS/400 and the Internet'. There are things called FTP exit points
that you can tighten up. I copied out an RPG program, cut and paste, from that
book. I modified it and it works great. I log all accesses, etc. Code is
extremely well documented and laid out. See the command WRKREGINF. You'll see,
among many others:
Exit
Exit Point
Point Format Registered Text
QIBM_QTMF_CLIENT_REQ VLRQ0100 *YES FTP Client Request Validation
QIBM_QTMF_SERVER_REQ VLRQ0100 *YES FTP Server Request Validation
QIBM_QTMF_SVR_LOGON TCPL0100 *YES FTP Server Logon
If you don't want to work on these yourself there is a company called Pentasafe
that claims to have all of these covered. You can find them on the IBM web
site.
