You should be able to DSPOBJD to an outfile using the *SERVICE parameter.

Subject: retreive data area definition

Hello all,

I need to retreive in a CL program the number of bytes of a caracter data
area. There is no command to do it that i know of. I tried the API QWCRDTAA
but it can only retreive the content of the data area, not the number of
bytes with which it was created. I also tried DSPOBJD with no luck.

 Any idea?
