Yes, they printed PART of it. They did an awful hack job of editing it too ! I especially liked the "Well, the good news for those of us is ..." That full sentence was "...the good news for those of us who have open minds and are actually aware of the amazing capabilities of the AS/400 today (as opposed to back in 1988) is..." In case anyone's interested, the unedited leter follows: > In his letter Jim states "IBM has proved itself to be bankrupt of > talent > and marketing ability when it comes to the desktop. Sure, it excels at > pushing the IT version of the dinosaur, the AS/400, but this is an > entirely different environment". > > So, he thinks the AS/400 is a dinosaur eh ! > Well Jim, the good news for those of us who have open minds and are > actually aware of the amazing capabilities of the AS/400 today (as > opposed to back in 1988) is that this is just about the farthest thing > from the truth. Unfortunately Jim's other statement about IBM > excelling > at pushing the AS/400 is also far from the truth. To date, IBM have > done a reasonably poor job of marketing the AS/400. If they had done > a > good job, Jim and countless others would no longer hold this outdated > opinion. > > If you want to calculate the "Schroedinger wave equation and > Mandelbrot > Polynomial while simultaneously controlling a robot > that is performing open heart surgery, or design an enhancement to the > space shuttle", then by all means use Unix. If you want to run your > business then you want the Ultimate Business Server - an AS/400. (The quote re the "Schroedinger wave equation and Mandelbrot Polynomial ..." is from Malcolm Haines in the 1992 video "AS/400 - The Best Architecture in the World").
