Ravi, Via SQL interface, you can name file on AS/400 over 10 charactors. AS/400 has two name formats of file. The 1'st is long name format used in SQL. The 2'nd is short name format used in OS/400. You can see long name format of file with DSPFD. For excample, try to export table to AS/400 from MS-Access with long name via ODBC. AS/400 rename it in 10 charactors. You can see originarl name with DSPFD. If you named the table in Access ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQ(over 10 chars), AS/400 will rename ABCDExxxxx(xxxxx are 5 decimals which counts up by system). But programs on OS/400 can use only short name format. Does my mail help you?
