First thing I'ld try to do if it's a file is copy it *map *drop with a
incchar(1 *eq '00'x)....this will hit each record in the PF and you can
get a idea of damage... 

If it's header damage, you still be able to save the data...if it's a LF
you may
have lf damage that's a crtlf may fix or you may have damage that only a
recreate of the PF and all LF's will fix...

Frankly, I check the PF's first to make sure I've go the raw data...LF's I
can always recreate...not always pretty, but no data loss..
