JMS,

I depends on what version of OS/400 you want to target. The windows
part of Visualage will NOT target V3R1.

If that is not a problem, then by all means, get the C++. IMHO, C++
is to C like RPG/400 is to RPG II. Currently, I use C++ in the
Windows world and ILE/C on the AS/400. The ILE/C pains me, but I can
target V3R1. I will love it when we raise the bar for our customers
to V3R2.

But on the other hand if you need total portability, then you probably
want to stick with C.

Bob

Subject: C vs C++ LPP Question..

For those of you working in this area, I am trying to decide rather I
need both the (5769-CX2) ILE C for AS/400 and the (5769-CX5) Visualage
for C++ for AS/400 products on my system. With the AIX complilers I
get
a good ansi C from the C++ licensed product. Is the OS/400 solution
the
same or do I need both LPP's ??

        Thanks,
        JMS..,
