This seems like a lot of extra work. Is there any reason > to do it this way? Record locking. In order for the "DSPF has PF names" to operate, you need to DOW CHAIN EXFMT UPDAT ENDDO If the workstation operator leaves her desk for lunch with that record on the screen, that record is locked for an hour. If you rename the DSPF fields, there is no need to lock the record: DOW CHAIN (no lock) MOVE DB to DSPF EXFMT CHAIN (lock) MOVE DSPF to DB UPDAT ENDDO Buck Calabro Commsoft, Albany, NY mailto:mcalabro@commsoft.net +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +--- +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
