Here's a new one on me. One of our PC developers here called me to
assist him with a problem. Here's an outline of what we're doing:

     1) Connect via ODBC to file x.
     2) check last record to see if the file needs to be refreshed.
     3) disconnect from the open data source.
     4) conditionally, use RFROMPCB to transfer new data, replacing the
     old member with the new.

     Here's the problem:

ODBC put a member lock on the data file. One would think that when
we disconnect from the data source, the job's member lock would be
removed. It's not. Since the lock is being maintained, the RFROMPCB
command fails because it cannot allocate the member to clear it
before transferring the new data. OS400 is at V3R2 (our development
box, used for testing). This same process seems to work fine on the
     production box (V3R7).

He's reluctant to try work-arounds since this process works on
     production.

     Any ideas anyone?
