You maybe able to qualify for the developer lease program, and you could get a
good size 170 with all the V4R3 software, memory, and DASD for 30K.  Then you
could lease this from IBM under the program for 1% (yes, that is correct $300 a
month) for 3 years.  That would do great for the cash flow, and you would have 
the
latest and greatest software, and that would include software subscription.
I wouldn't even consider anything else.  The presidents (so called) friend, was
probably looking at putting his children through college.
