Of course, it is true that green screen applications will continue to rule in many situations, but there are more reasons for GUI than you would think. Here is just one: A call center has large number of operators who need to access a large variety of products and describe the differences between products to the caller. The GUI allows better customer satisfaction because the operators can better describe the differing products. For example, it's easier to see the products in tabs and folders format. BUT that is not why the ROI justified the GUI. The ROI reason for adopting the GUI by the call center was the large turnover in call center employees and the lower training costs in learning the GUI versus the green screen. The call center has cut the training time and gets its employees up-and-running on the phones faster, saving $$$$. I'll take a challenge to find more GUI apps than you think!
