:::I thought a C programmer could do all that in the index of a do loop. ::: I do not believe that the "terse-ness" of a language is a good criteria for judging it's value. A very important purpose of a programming language is to communicate between a programmer and another programmer. RPG is okay, with ILE being a large improvement. RPG/free was super. COBOL is good when well done (which, sadly, is seldom true). Visual Basic is good. Delphi is good. C is ... well, C is C (actually, read Paul Conte's "Common Sense C" and you'll "C" that C CAN be done reasonably well). I have a technique for creating "OBJECTS" in RPG. It's VERY simple, but a very effective method for minimizing maintenance and incorporating "abstraction" into the RPG environment. WHEN I get some time (after Dec. 16, when my Physiology class at Penn State ends), I'll post the white paper and some sample code on my web page.
