I'm not sure if this is what you're looking for but... I've used the Client Access for Windows 95/NT product for remote access. Aside from the speed, it works great just like I'm on the LAN. The only problem though (at least for me) is that you'd have to configure the AS/400 TCP/IP connections while connected to the LAN then pull the workstation/laptop, disable the card, and dial-in through DUN, etc. SLIP or PPP needs to be configured on the 400 also.
