Daniel,

The December Street Talk has some info about vendors who do this.
http://www.news400.com/streettalk/street1298.htm

Basically, you have a few Choices:

a) Brandenmark - very expensive, but very full featured. Also
arrogant <not nice word censored>....well, that was just my opinion.
If money is not an issue and you need everything, this is probably
your solution.

b) Mid-Comp international (www.midcomp.com.au ) has a nice product for
$200. You can download a free trial.

c) Bug Busters (www.bugbusters.net ) Suggested price of $575, but you
pay them what you think it is worth.

d) Bavarian Consulting (www.bavarian-cons.com ) I think is somewhere
around $150. Made in the USA by a fellow Midrang-L'r who is trying to
feed his cats <g>. Not many bells and whistles, but it does work.

And of course, you can "roll your own". But with the price of the
last 3 products, it would be easier to use one of those.

And all of them create a set of files that you download to your PC.
You then use the CD Rom authoring tools that came with your CDR drive
to actual "burn" the CDR.

All of them put the data on the CD in a Save/Restore format.

The main thing that separates Brandenmark from the rest is a) do you
need a tape drive during the process and b) do you write your own
QINSTAPP (for LODRUN processing). IMHO, the tape drive and QINSTAPP
is not worth the several THOUSAND dollar price difference.

Besides, there are plenty on this list who can help you with QINSTAPP
& LODRUN. It really is "a piece of cake".

Subject: Writing to AS/400 CD-ROM

<< File: ATT00005.htm >> I'm looking into writing our save files and
such to a CD-ROM that we can then send out to other sites and run via
LODRUN. As for creating this CD-ROM, I'm a a loss here. I know there
is one vendor out there (Bradenmark, aka Centerfield Technology) that
has a product which interfaces with a CD recordable device on a PC and
the AS/400, but is this the only way? I want to include our user
manuals as well.

Any thoughts? Suggestions? I've searched the web countless times on
this and keep coming up short. And again, in essence, I want to
create a CD that I can install software from on an AS/400. I know
there was a CD-ROM juke box for the 400 a while back, but not sure if
this is the right way, not to mention I want to make this as cost
effective as possible.
