I think I almost completely understand.  But one more question:

The two raid arrays I have are underneath a 6512 controller.  From what I can
find out this only supports two arrays.  (As opposed to a 6533 controller that
I read about that will support up to four arrays).  So I wouldn't be able to
start a new array, and thus would have to stick with more 2gb units.  Am I
correct?  

What controllers support three arrays?

Also, do I understand correctly that the 6502 and 6512 controllers I currently
have will not support disk compression in the future (when we get to V4Rx)?
