I remembered QUSRTOOL used the savf method but mismembered what it did after that and didn't think about it before posting. I just checked, it writes the deleted records to a new file in a different library where you have to decide which record(s) to merge back into the original file. I was just mentioning QUSRTOOL in passing because I think Dave McKenzie's direct display/retrieval is alot slicker. BTW, it only uses MI to retrieve the data. It uses regular disk operations to add deleted records back to the file. A neat utility to have in the toolbox "just in case". I have not (yet) had to use it.
