and then, several years later, some other programmer comes on the scene, and 
'gasp' there's no documentation!

years ago, we had a client that was going thru their first big 8 accounting 
audit - and the auditor threatened to write them up because they did not have
flowcharts!

then, they offered to 'save' them, and come in and do the flowcharts,  for 
$100,000!  i asked, couldn't they see what this firm was doing?  they were 
trying to
scare them, but no, the big 8 firm said so, so it must be true!
