We have an AS/400 running V4R2 in a WAN environment. TCP/IP is configured and working. Most of our printing is "distributed"...meaning the users control their own output and need to print to local printers--these local printers are now on the WAN using HP JetDirect print servers. If we print direct to the HPJetDirect using LPR/LPD and a remote outque we are fine except we loose spool control (can't print page 2-4 out of a 500 page job)... so we devised some OS/2 computers running Comm Mgr as "interfaces" (don't ask -- this part is ugly). I thought I read that under V4RX it's now possible to maintain spool control and print directly to these devices. Support line personnel have been marginally helpful. Anyone have a suggestion of a "book" or step-by-step documentation on how to accomplish this (I just gotta get rid of those OS/2 computers). Thanks! Barry L.
