That's really what I wanted to clear up. really. i didn't know that. but how? for example, in our application, there is a chain to a 250 byte file to get a 4 digit catagory code. since the application is running on the source system, how do you just get from the target the data you want, without transmitting the entire file? i haven't looked at ddm for some time, but i didn't think that was something you could control. nj
