We just started using VB for all development of new software for the end user. I have used Visual Age and I have to say I did not like it. It was to limiting. We also have ASNA Visual RPG which I think is a big step up on IBM,s product. It is more of a windows product and very close to VB in function if you are using their 3.0 product. We switched to VB for the simple reason it is easier to find VB programmers than it is to find RPG programmers or Visual RPG programmers. ----- Original Message ----- From: DAVID BULOG <d2ba@xtra.co.nz> To: <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> Sent: Tuesday, January 19, 1999 7:48 PM Subject: Re: VB Future ? & Visual Age RPG >How many people on this list use VB?Im really interested is Visual Age RPG >any good .So far I cant get a answer as to whether this will work on the >desktop without being connected to the AS/400. >I have heard that you can devolp stand alone windows apps-nothing to do >with the AS/400 with Visual Age--is this correct??? > >cheers Dave >PS: thers is only one book avaible on Visual Age RPG - a disapointing slim >expensive volume and there does not appear to be the support out there >about this product. You also have to buy software for the AS/400 when you >purchase Visual Age as part of the kit--even if its useless for all us >users that have a small cisc >box at home. > +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
