I have been demoing a product call Suveryor/400 from Limona Software.  It
provides a Windows Explorer type interface to DB2/400, allowing drill down
of libs/files/phsicals/logical/properties/data.  One of the features it
allows is to find the file you are looking for and then very easily export
the data in a CSV (or several other formats) to your PC.  It will then load
direclty into Excel.  It is all TCP/IP based and actually pretty impressive.
I do NOT sell this software.  You can find it and download a working version
