Dave, Are you looking for a generalized approach to handle any old *DTAQ or an approach best suited for a particular type of *DTAQ (here I'm thinking of keyed vs non-keyed; and if keyed with or without unique key values). Are you looking for an approach that minimizes development time or minimizes storage allocation on the system? And last but not least, what language are you developing in as that may cause some options to be not applicable/suitable. I started replying to your request with an overview of the options and decided after way too many paragraphs that I should ask for a bit more information on what you are looking for. Thanks, Bruce Vining > >Hi, >I am trying to use the QMHRDQM API, which retrieves the messages in a data >queue without deleting the messages from the queue. > >I am using RDQM0100 for the record format of the receiver variable. >What is the preferred method for defining the receiver variables length? >(Several fields within format RDQM0100 are repeated for each message >retrieved.) > >TIA, >Dave > +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
