Endre, Yes, I have been to twice simmillar to that( about 3 and half year before) to big consulting companies ( I dont want to mention the name of the firm here, because I am not sure whether I can do ) , who the interviewer is a marketing person, who just say helllo to me and guided me to a PC (!) which runs a software with lots of questions and answers to select on . The questions were realy more theoritical on syntax, which was very tough. I could'nt pass, though I have at that time almost 5+ years of programming experiance with good expertise to programming Logic and design. I was so frustrated at that time about that. Then I attended with another big distribution company, they also guided me for the test , but this time to an AS/400 terminal. They gave me the real prgramming specificatiions, I get through it successfully. I started the work with them with more confident and completed the project successfully on time. With my experiance, I could'nt able to say which is the best way to conduct the test . I hope with more senior people on this list can suggest the best way. Have you ever been on to an interview where the question were being read from IBM's Programming Manuals? (RPG & COBOL) It felt really surreal. Oh well....
