Hello Chuck, Have you taken your brave pills today? This information is stored in the *QRYDFN object. There was a utility published by News/400 which extracted information from the *QRYDFN. You may be able to modify this to change the printer name. You could also use the Display/Alter/Dump function of the System Service Tools to locate the *QRYDFN object, browse it until you find the printer name, and change it. Otherwise it is a manual process. I really wish Query/400 had a source retrieval mechanism like the S/38 Query. That was really useful. In either case BACKUP, BACKUP, BACKUP before you mess with the objects. Regards, Simon Coulter. «»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«» «» FlyByNight Software AS/400 Technical Specialists «» «» Eclipse the competition - run your business on an IBM AS/400. «» «» «» «» Phone: +61 3 9419 0175 Mobile: +61 0411 091 400 «» «» Fax: +61 3 9419 0175 mailto: shc@flybynight.com.au «» «» «» «» Windoze should not be open at Warp speed. «» «»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«»«» //--- forwarded letter ------------------------------------------------------- > X-Mailer: Mozilla 4.5 [en] (WinNT; I) > MIME-Version: 1.0 > Date: Thu, 11 Feb 99 09:55:57 -0500 > From: "Chuck Lewis" <CLEWIS@IQUEST.NET> > To: "MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com" <MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com> > Reply-To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com > Subject: Question on QRYDFN ("editing under the covers" ?) > > Hi Folks ! > > I am wanting to rename a printer to something that makes MORE sense > (i.e. naming convetions - WOW what a concept ! <BG>) snd SHOULD have > done this BEFORE we converted over to our AS/400 last month and before a > BUNCH of queries got defined to go to this printer, but we were a > "little" busy with "other stuff" and I spaced it. > > I was wondering if there was a way to "dig into" the QRYDFN's (we keep > ALL queries in ONE library) to see what outq is specified.
