Kevin -- Have you checked to see if the "connector" on the drive is really an adapter. This happened to me with a quarter inch drive. It looked like the connector on the back was incompatible with the cable to plug into it but when I pulled hard on the connector (on the suggestion of a friend), it turned out to be an adapter than came off. If that doesn't work, maybe the reverse will. Is there an adapter that will convert from your existing connector to the one on the 500.
