OK, this ones got us stumped so I'll see if any of the experts here can help

File1 has CCSID 37 and Language ID of ENU V3R2
There are fields (BTW these are source physical files) that have the
British pound sign (you know the funky "L" looking character.

File 2 has ccsid 280 and Language ID of ITA V3R1
There are fields (again a src file) that have the # symbol (instead of the
British pound)

I need to copy a member from File2 to File1

When I do the # gets changed to the British pound (ARRRGHHH!!!) which I
don't want to happen
If I manually key the # over the british pound, it takes.

I then created a new file on my system CCSID 37 and Language ID of ENU V4R1
When I copy a member from File1 to this new file it stays as the British #.

Any ideas, thoughts????

(Don't even ask why, it's a long convoluted story (Y2K related)....
