I've read elsewhere on the Net, that LANSA knocked the socks off SYNON,
but the marketing for LANSA was very poor, is this true or not!

Yes, LANSA is a 4GL that generates green screen,
client/server, html, and
just about anything else you would like short of a
de-cafe lotte.

It is debatably the best available product in the
marketplace. The first
product to this marketplace (in any numbers) was Synon,
now Cool. (A name
change that was probably a bigger marketing flub that
the new-Coke/Coke
Classic.) I however have a customer that is now using
the Synon/Cool
product and is apparently having (non-trivial) problems.

We seriously looked at LANSA as a product to sell last
year, and decided
that although the product looked technically superior,
however there were
other (internal) business reasons that prevented us from
expending that
                rapidly.
