I seem to remember this happening also. However I have a 9402-E02 running V3R2
that
will give me those commands in a reasonable time. It is running cum 98139.

One alternative is that you upgrade your development machine. How can you use
new
features in production when you can't test or develop them? To avoid the risk
of
looking hypocritical, we have a 9406-S20-2163 for development. We negotiated
with
our software vendors to get a free copy on the development machine, (other than
IBM).
Maybe with the maintenance cost reduction and the ability to use newer features
you
can convince management.

The E02 is a dedicated 400 running an old fax software package we are migrating
from.
The RISC version was $7K. Our leasing company GAVE us the E02. I figure if
people
complain about the performance they can put pressure on the rest of IS to get
them
on the new fax software.

Subject: WRKJOB commands

Our shop has 3 AS/400's, a 170, a 530 and an older F45. The F45 is
running V3R2. When any job related command is issued (WRKUSRJOB, WRKJOB,
WRKSBMJOB, etc.) they take seemingly FOREVER to respond. Generally, the
response time is 35 to 45 seconds. This only started happening when V3R2
was loaded. The machine is strictly for development and never has more
than 2 or 3 users logged on. Is there any remedy for this situation? I
don't think it is a tuning issue, since all other commands respond well.
I seem to remember someone saying once that certain job information may
be stored in a compressed format and the 'decompression' may be
responsible for the slow response, but haven't been able to confirm
this. Any feedback on this would be MUCH appreciated.
