HP support PCL printing, but not IPDS, check with your vendor if your
printer support an IPDS card. If not, I'm sorry but there is no way you can
do this.

Subject: Defining a network printer as AS/400 *IPDS printer

I am new to the AS/400. Can anyone assist me in defining a network printer
as an *IPDS printer? My printer is an HP 4000TN. IBM documentation makes
no references to this printer and the HP documentation has no references to
AS/400. Through much trial-and-error we have managed to define this
printer to the AS/400 as a 3812-1, but I would like the printer to be
defined as *IPDS so that I would have the capability to generate forms
overlays to this printer.

The current definition which works is (from the RTVCFGSRC command):
CRTDEVPRT DEVD(PRTGVLPUR) DEVCLS(*LAN) TYPE(3812) MODEL(1) +
         LANATTACH(*IP) PORT(9100) ATTACH(*DIRECT) ONLINE(*YES) +
         FONT(11 *NONE) FORMFEED(*AUTOCUT) SEPDRAWER(*FILE) +
         PRTERRMSG(*INQ) MSGQ(*LIBL/QSYSOPR) ACTTMR(170) +
         INACTTMR(*SEC15) LINESPEED(19200) WORDLEN(8) +
         PARITY(*NONE) STOPBITS(1) TRANSFORM(*YES) MFRTYPMDL(*HP4) +
         PPRSRC1(*LETTER) PPRSRC2(*LETTER) ENVELOPE(*NUMBER10) +
         ASCII899(*NO) IMGCFG(*NONE) CHRID(*SYSVAL) +
         RMTLOCNAME('10.20.1.34') SYSDRVPGM(*HPPJLDRV) +
         TEXT('Greenville TCP/IP printer-Purchasing Dept.')
