During a major conversion last year we rented a 3590 tape drive to read the tapes that were coming off of the former service provider's system. I just varied off the 3570 moved the cable to the 3590 and varied it on. Our 620 never complained! We just got a leased S20 in for Y2K testing. We were supposed to get a second cable for our 3570, but it wasn't in the box. No big surprise. We're debating whether we can unplug the 3570 from the S30. The 3570 manual says, "The host (initiator) SCSI port must be quiesced before removing any SCSI device". Does this mean that if we vary the tape library off (it's the only device on the SCSI bus) we can safely unplug it without causing a SCSI reset, or must we power down the system?
