Matthias, If the AS/400 was active when it was trashed and the controller was used for RAID, it contains a Write Cache that would have to be transferred to a new controller (it is designed for this to be possible). If the cache was destroyed, the data on the disks would not be up to date and the raid sets parity data would be inonsistent.
