Here are the steps:
1: configure an AFP printer on your PC (the drivers comes with client access)
2: configure this printer so that the output goes to a file
3: generate and print your logo with your favorite PC program
4: using windows explorer, tansfer the file on the AS/400 (in the ifs)
5: create a temporary file on the AS/400
    CRTPF FILE(MYLIB/MYFILE) RCDLEN(8201) MAXMBRS(*NOMAX) LVLCHK(*NO)

6: add a member to the just created file
    ADDPFM FILE(MYLIB/MYFLE) MBR(&OVL)
7: Convert the PC data to a PF
    CPYFRMPCD FROMFLR(MYFOLDER) TOFILE(MYLIB/MYFILE) +
              FROMDOC(&PCDOC) TOMBR(&OVL) +
              MBROPT(*REPLACE) TRNTBL(*NONE)
8: Create the overlay
    CRTOVL OVL(&LIB/&OVL) FILE(MYLIB/MYFILE)

Those steps are in used at my location. There may be better ways but this one
works.

Help.

I am trying to create and Overlay file (object type OVL) for printing a logo
to an HP5SI printer. I have set up CA and I believe an AFP printer. I have
printed my logo to the AFP printer and held the spool file. From the
operations navigator I have created an overlay file. Now (if what I have
done so far is right??) how to I get this to the AS/400 and create my
overlay? CPYFRMPCD will not copy up the file it says it can not find it.
But I have FTP'ed it up and when I use it to create the overlay file I get
a level check message. I can not find a procedure that tells me the steps
to create this overlay file with out the use of the APF Utility. Can it be
done? Can some one tell me where I am going wrong? Thanks in advance for
your help.
