        My system is averaging 25,000 to 30,000 transaction per hour with an
average
        disk storage growth of 4GB per month though. We might be a bit "out
of the
        norm" ... 

        Welcome in the "club of nonnormals"!

        ...more than 40.000 SAP dialog steps per peak hour,
        100 MB data growth per day, that makes some 40 GB per year (raw
estimate)...
        The only difference to us: We have the opportunity to get the system
once a week.
        But for half an hour only.

A system admin's life is a sorry one.  The only advantage he has
over Emergency Room doctors is that malpractice suits are rare.
On the other hand, ER doctors never have to deal with patients
installing new versions of their own innards!
