RE: Establishing contact with another AS400 without using subsystem qinter.

Chester - 

I have set up my AS/400's so I can start a passthru session from one to the
other when subsystem QINTER is inactive.

1.) Create a virtual controller and device description.

2.) Add a Work Station Name entry to your controlling subsystem description
(QCTL for me).
     Specify the name of the virtual device created in step 1

3.) Add a Remote Location entry to subsystem description QCMN.
     Specify the system name of the other AS/400 a mode description name and
a default user name.

When this is done, you can execute the following command to access the other
AS/400:

STRPASTHR RMTLOCNAME("The_other_AS/400_Name) +
 VRTDEV(Device_Name_from_Step_1) +
 MODE(Mode_name_from_step_3)

This will get you a signon screen in the controlling subsystem on the other
AS/400...
