Getting Previous session back in SQL

Several of our programmers use TN5250 to access the 400's. That means they
get a different QPADEVxxxx each time they come. What is happening is if they
use STRSQL and come in on a different device they don't get their Saved
Session.

Is this normal??   We're still on 4.1
