yes.  we use asna's product.  

on the as/400 there is a product called 'datagate' that gives you record
level access to the as/400 data.  

on the client side, there is a run time module that needs to be loaded,
and your execution program.

datagate costs about $85 per concurrent user, and is licenced at the
as/400 end rather than at the p/c.

we use it for remote access for credit and collection bureaus.
