At the risk of being extremely late on this thread, I will reply.

Doesn't linking to the As400 file via ODBC bypass all this OLE DB support stuff?

Creating a new ODBC connection is not too hard -- I think I've seen some
documentation on this list serve before not too long ago -- you can do it
through Control Panel or Client Access.

Once the DSN (I think that is the term) is created, then in Access do a link
to files of type ODBC Databases.  Your DSN will be listed; select it; then
select your file.

If I'm totally missing the boat on this one I'm sorry; but I've done exactly
what the original poster was inquiring about using this strategy.
