I'm working with a client over the internet using a Virtual Private Network.
There is a bit of software running on my PC that encrypts the packets going
over the internet. The intermediate destination for the packets is the VPN
server on their network. It's job is to decrypt the packets, and send them
unencrypted to their true destination.

We use telnet and FTP quite regularly for this job, and the communication is
supposedly mathematically secure. The software for the PC side is called
CheckPoint VPN-1 SecureRemote. I think the company is CheckPoint Software
Technologies Ltd.

I have no idea of cost or hassle on the server side, but the client side works
very well and easily.

Regards,
Rich
