Are the numeric fields stroed as packed numeric on the
/400?   ASCII doesn't understand, and therefore FTP can't
translate, packed numeric.   You'll have to unpack the
fields prior to transfer.

You can do it manually for the files you will transfer, or
if you transfer many different files there are  tools that
you can buy that do this (I think Patrick Townsend from this
list has one) .
