You can create a new entry in your hosts file that points to the Ethernet address. I don't think the system name is used for any more than DNS. Please correct me if I am wrong. Can't seem to find documentation on this. Christopher K. We have installed an ethernet card in the 400, set this up as xxx.xxx.26.5, and connected this to the ethernet (26) segment of the network. This can also be pinged / telnetted to from the token ring (25) side. I have tried to set up a CA connection to xxx.xxx.26.5, but as soon as i enter the system name, it automatically pulls in the 25.5 address from the HOSTS file on the PC. Can i set up the ethernet segment to have a different system name to the token ring? Or is there any other way around it? I'd like to be able to play around with an ethernet-connected setup before we migrate, and don't want to keep deleting the HOSTS file every time i want to flip! Any ideas?
