Hi, Folks: In reviewing the MMU, I noticed the item entitled "IBM Is Not Pulling AS/400 Promotions," which would seem to be sparked by comments on this list. I find it interesting that the discussion found there was not also repeated on this list... what's that tell us? Maybe nothing, but I have to wonder. Anyway, I found the following statement interesting, and wondered if anyone else on this list has thoughts on it. Quoting the article: "What goes unsaid at IBM is that [in spite of advertisement deficiency - Dennis] its flagship AS/400 and mainframe servers will continue to be used as the backbones of back-office applications but that UNIX and NT servers will handle most of the e-business middleware that links these applications to the outside world...." It'll just *happen* because... because what? Because of advertising or magic, or is it something else? I'm a big believer in cause and effect, and I don't see the cause to promote the effect that they say "will happen." Or maybe it's just me.
