Robert--
The feature does works as advertised with my NT
Server and only the MS networking client. With Bypass Signon enabled,
using the Windows networking client user ID and password, and with system value
QRMTSIGN = *VERIFY, clicking on a session shortcut produces a signed-on AS/400
green screen.
Having said all that, if it doesn't work
for you, I'd consider that a feature! This scenario certainly seems to provide
iffy security at best to me. Besides, with CA/400's passive caching (which is
also silly!), you don't really need to sign in that many times anway, do
you?

Subject: Client Access Express and Win NT
4.0 (CWBSY0002 "Password ... not correct" message)
I was very excited to see that Client Access
Express finally offers the option to use the User ID and Password of the
current Windows user to bypass the CA pop-up signon window. After
installing Express V4R4 with Servie Pack SF55256 on a machine I found that
the feature didn't seem to work. I got discouraged, thinking that the
faeature still would only work with Win95/98. However the redbook
AS-400 Client Access Express for Windows - Implementing V4R4
(SG24-5191-00), indicates (in Section 3.3) that the feature does indeed
support Windows NT. It even goes into detail about changing password
to keep them in sync. Given NetWare, Windows NT Workstation and
AS/400 User IDs of "TESTUSER", all with as password of "testuser", I get
CWBSY0002 - Password for user TESTUSER on system CSCAS400 is not
correct. Do you want to provide a different password? After
clicking <YES>, I enter "testuser" and the login completes.
Does this indeed work without NetWare in the mix?
I am trying this from a machine running
NT4-SP5 and Netware Client32 4.50. I am regretably assuming that the
Netware Client is preventing it from working? Unfortunately, I do not
have any systems that do not have the NetWare client on it for testing
purposes.
Thanks in advance for any
feedback,
