That's what I usually do. The following procedure is pretty close, but I don't have access to the current version of Excel or the AS/400 at the moment, so this is from memory. 1. In Excel, Open menu data | get external data | create a new query. 2. Specify or create an appropriate ODBC datasource when prompted. 3. open SQL view (or use the GUI query builder if you like) 4. create a query like "SELECT * FROM MYFILE" 5. File | Return data to Excel 6. Back in Excel, File | Send To | Email recipient Note this procedure does require that you are able to connect to your AS/400 via ODBC. If you haven't already built a datasource, you can do so as part of the process. Excel and MSQuery insists on using a "file" datasource, so you may end up duplicating a system or user datasource name. This doesn't seem to cause problems.
