More research has proven that all PCs (not just one, as I had originally
thought) that attempt to connect with this AS/400 using 5250 emulation,
fail in this way.  No PTFs were put on the /400, no system changes were
made (that I recall) since this last worked... yesterday.

I'm baffled by this.
