Yes - had identical problem about 3 weeks after installing new 170 with 9910-140 UPS. I just wrote the first instance off - annoyed as I was I didn't have the time to follow up - but when it happened again about a week later (and the other two unprotected systems in the room stayed up) I put in a service call. They shipped a replacement overnight and it's been OK since January. I suspect a production problem with some of the 9910's but of course they wouldn't admit it. I haven't followed up in detail, but I suspect that if you connect the CPM (Continuously Powered Mainstorage) cables, that you need to specify a lower value in QUPSDLYTIM. After checking some sysvals that appeared to be ok, my IBM UPS which is actually a BEST UPS model 9910, was voluntarily replaced by BEST. I have tested the new UPS by removing the power source and all worked fine. I am glad I have not had a "real" power outage. However, I would like to know if it really works. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Deb -----Original Message----- From: owner-midrange-l@midrange.com [mailto:owner-midrange-l@midrange.com]On Behalf Of John Hall Sent: Wednesday, August 04, 1999 12:17 PM To: MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com Subject: UPS trouble Last night about 23:30 my system (170) stopped.... When I came in this morning everything was dead. Pressed the power button on the UPS and all is well again. (or maybe not). The system looked as if someone pushed the power button on the UPS and turned if off - but no one was in the building The UPS is the one that is supplied with the system. Has anybody heard of this problem? TIA John Hall Home Sales Co. P.S. the CPM feature appeared to work because I have Job logs from all of the Jobs that were running at the Time the system crashed. +--- | This is the Midrange System Mailing List! | To submit a new message, send your mail to MIDRANGE-L@midrange.com. | To subscribe to this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-SUB@midrange.com. | To unsubscribe from this list send email to MIDRANGE-L-UNSUB@midrange.com. | Questions should be directed to the list owner/operator: david@midrange.com +---
