PC Objects to AFP Page segments?

Good Morning World

We're working on a project to use AFP in the construction of documents - let's 
call them 'letters'.

The intent is to construct a letter looking report from dynamically chosen 
paragraphs which will be created on a PC.

Any and all help advice and 'been there, done that' stories would be appreciated
but to be specific, we're having an initial problem in identifying what types of
PC object the convert to page segment command will accept.

We've tried lots of stuff - what's the answer?
